Legendary rockers the Sex Pistols have bottled the scent of the punk era by launching the band’s first fragrance. The group has teamed up with French beauty brand Etat Libre D’Orange to create a self-titled scent, which is described as “the spirit of punk” in a bottle.

According to a statement, the fragrance–which is available at The Fragrance Shop–leaves a “fresh, restless bite of lemon, sharpened and intensified by a defiant black pepper.”

The release adds: “Electrified by aldehydes, the fragrance exudes pure energy, pared down and pumped up by leather, shot through with heliotrope and brought back down to earth by a raunchy patchouli.”

As well as a strong scent, the bottle also makes a bold impression, with its iconic graphic inspired by the front cover of the hit single “God Save the Queen” released in 1977.

With their anarchy-inspired lifestyle and controversial attitude, the group paved the way for a new genre of music and revolutionized British culture in the 70s.

A statement from executives at the fragrance company reads, “To wear this scent, you must resist tradition, fight conformity, and disregard aromatic conventions. In the spirit of punk, you must be willing to express yourself with abandon. You take risks and you wouldn’t be adverse to creating a little mayhem.”
